The Legend Ends

So I was one of the lucky few who was able to get an early glimpse of the first 6-7 minutes of “The Dark Knight Rises.”  Boy, it was pretty awesome.  I don’t want to spoil it at all, but if I had to sum up what I just saw in two words, I’d say: airplane heist.  Knowing Chris Nolan’s style, I could see that there was minimal CGI; everything was very believable and real. We are introduced to Bane, and the only complaint I would have is that we can’t hear him speak clearly.  It’s not like Christian Bale’s voice for Batman, it’s just that with a mask over Tom Hardy’s face, it’s quite difficult to understand all that he says, especially in a very noisy environment.  Watching the 70mm IMAX sequence, was definitely a big plus.

Quick Rant about IMAX:

The image and sound quality was top notch.  I’m definitely going to watch the whole movie, once it comes out, in a 70mm IMAX film venue.  It makes all the difference.  AMC IMAX doesn’t cut it; they claim they are real IMAX, but it’s a load of BS to just get more of your money; yes, the screen is bigger than standard screens, but it does not match 70mm IMAX screens.

After the prologue, there was a montage of brief moments from the rest of the film.  We got to see Batman’s new gadget, Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), a standoff between Bane and Batman, and finally Bane tossing aside a piece of Batman’s mask.

Oh, I also got a free shirt! What a good way to end the day.

Those who want to see the prologue, you can watch it in front of “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” (but in 70mm IMAX venues).  And if you don’t want to spoil anything for yourself but are still curious, you can watch the trailers before the new Sherlock Holmes movie; one of those should be the second trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Bane of Batman’s existence.

Two awesome things to note about this scene:

1. Samuel L. Jackson’s acting

2. Tarantino’s brilliant screenplay

I’m pretty excited.
